The Biggest YES This World Has Ever Heard
There are many YESES going out in the world today, but not all of the YESES are sure, like God’s YESES are sure. God doesn’t throw His YESES around without knowing He will back them up.
How many times have we heard people say YES, but their actions were no?
Well, we can be sure that when God says YES, He means YES. When God says YES, He can back it up.
We have heard that sometimes God’s answer is NO, and sometimes it is. When God says NO, it is just as sure as when He says YES. And just as God’s YESES are reliable, so should His children’s YESES be reliable. So how can a YES be reliable? A YES is reliable when faith and truth is behind the YES.
We say YES in marriage vows. Now, I’m not saying that we can never say NO after we’ve said YES, perhaps we should have never said YES in the first place. Sometimes a breaking of the YES is because of awful things like infidelity, or abuse. The YES was broken because truth and faith was not there to back it up.
The church is referred to as the bride of Christ. God says YES to us when we say YES to His Son, Jesus Christ. When we say YES to His Son, God, Who created all things, becomes our Father. The union is sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
There are many promises or YESES from God in the Holy Bible, but let’s look in the book of Galatians for the main YES. The main YES or blessing from God, is new life and holy inheritance in His family.
In the Old Testament, we read about the promise God gave Abraham. God didn’t say the nations of the world would be blessed through Abraham’s descendants (plural). He said the nations would be blessed through Abraham’s descendant (singular). This tells us that the carrier of the blessing would be through One descendant. Jesus Christ is that One. We read about Jesus Christ in the New Testament. We have an everlasting promise through Christ; eternal life and holy inheritance. This promise of life is given to Christians that make up the church. It is given to them, the same way it was given to Abraham, by faith. Because Christians believe in Christ, they are given new life. Galatians 3-4
Abraham didn’t have any descendants when God made this promise to him, but Abraham believed God could and would do what He promised He would do.
[Abraham] against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 4:16-25
Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the YES of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s YES and our YES together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his YES within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete. 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 Message
The promise of life in Christ is sure, because God’s YES is YES! We just have to say YES back or HAVE FAITH IN THE TRUTH.
