More Than Just Cars
“I don’t believe they just pulled out in front of me”. . . “Ever heard of blinkers?”
Ever thought these things or yelled these things out while driving? We are busier than ever before and most of us that live here in Tennessee have to drive quite a ways to get where we’re going. A lot of us spend a lot of time in our vehicles so we need to remind ourselves when we’re driving along. . .there are more than just cars out there. When we’re driving along, we are driving along with people. We don’t know their story and we don’t know where they’re going, but we know God and God knows all about it.
Recently, I read an article posted on Knoxville’s local8now about two people that first crossed paths on the highway. One woman had been in the head-on collision; the other woman was passing by that day. That day, the passerby prayed a prayer for the person that was in that wreck. The passerby could have fussed and complained about being inconvenienced by the traffic back- up the wreck probably caused...but she prayed.
I encourage you to read about this inspirational story here:
So what do we do when we pass by a wreck? I’m sure some of us pray as well, but some may thank God it wasn’t them or just drive by in indifference.
I suggest we pray like Michelle Ball prayed for Pat Day that day. We may not have a dramatic meeting later on as Pat and Michelle had; we may never know the outcome of those we prayed for, but as Christians, we have faith in God and we should reach out to Him on the behalf of others whenever we see them in trouble.
What would happen if we all drove thoughtfully....prayerfully? What would happen if we. . .drove in love? Here is a description of what that might be like:
Love is patient and kind...not jealous or conceited or proud... not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs... is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.Love is eternal. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Good News Translation
